Art Word of the Day: Surrealism

Surrealism Movement

Surrealism was a movement founded in Paris by a small group of writers and artist who sought to channel the unconscious to unlock the power of great imagination.

Surrealist believed the conscious mind repressed the power of imagination.

Influenced by Karl Marx, they hoped that the mind had the power to reveal contradictions in everyday life.
